The Alps are a extensive mountain range stretching from western Russia across central Europe through to France. The most notable European section of the Alps is in Austria.

The Alps are rugged and mountainous with many snow-capped peaks and low valley forests. The lower Alps have relatively flat areas that allow for the construction of roads and bridges. Many castles have been built in the Alps over the centuries by various European lords and kings, such as Adler Castle. These fortifications now serve mostly the German Reich and wealthy Austrian families.
