The MP 40 is a submachine gun available in Hidden & Dangerous and Hidden & Dangerous 2.
Description[]
The MP 40 is light and versatile weapon capable of firing short burst, sustained fire, or a single shot. The weapon fires 9 x 19 mm Luger/Parabellum ammunition out of a thirty-two shot magazine. The weapon, and ammunition for it, are easy to come by. The weapon weighs only 4,710 grams and is easy to control when firing. With a range of 110 yards and a muzzle velocity of 1,200 feet per second, the MP 40 is ideal for clearing buildings and even long distance firefights.
History[]
Production of the MP 40 began in 1940, hence the namesake, and was often incorrectly referred to as the "Schmeiser", though it was actually manufactured by Erma-Werke. The weapon is a derivative of the earlier MP 38 type, which was very much similar. The MP 40 is merely a smaller and simplified version of the earlier weapon, and remained in production until 1945.
In Game[]
The weapon is commonly used by German and Italian forces alike, and can be found almost anywhere.
Notes[]
- The MP 40 is correctly held by the body behind the magazine, and not by the magazine itself, as this unsettled the magazine and made the weapon prone to jamming.
- The MP 40's ammunition is exactly the same as that fired by the British Sten Mk. II, yet cannot be interchanged.
